Rocket Time

Hello, on Tuesday for science, our hurumanu class finally launched our rockets that we'd been working on for the past few weeks. I worked with Hamid, Shreya and Mea. We researched on what would make our rocket fly better and land without issues.

Many groups added cardboard wings to the sides of their rockets but we did something extra and added another parachute to ours. The landing was much smoother in the end. Hope you enjoyed my blog post have a great day. Bye!

THE FUN RUN

Hi, guys today I will be sharing what we have been doing. On Wednesday we did a Fun Run to raise money for Kids Can, a very helpful program that helps people and school all around New Zealand. We raised at least 2,000 dollars for Kids Can. We had colours that were thrown at us, water dumped on us and a bouncy optical. We all met up at Kylie Park and it was really fun. We had to bring a white shirt for the colours thrown at us. Would you do this for a program and what would you add to this run? Here are some photos of the day.

Acrostic Poem

Namaste, guys today I will be sharing my acrostic poem for hurumanu 6. An acrostic is a poem in which the first letter of each line spells out a word, message or the alphabet. I have made this poem about myself. If you had to do an acrostic poem what would you do it about and why? Hope you enjoyed my work have a great day bye.

Term 4 Goal Setting

Bula, guys today I will be sharing my term 4 goals. Every term we set goals for us to achieve and talk about what we have achieved the last term. What have you done that you are really proud of and why? I think that my goals are achievable because they are simple but still will challenge me. The main thing I will be focusing on is my writing skills because I enjoy writing a lot and it will help me in the future. I have worked on my goals and thought long about them, so I hope you enjoy and hope to hear about your goals too BYE!

DAYLIGHT SAVING FACTS

Hi, guys today I will be sharing what I have been doing for homeroom. We have been working on our research skills. So today I will be sharing some facts about Daylight Saving.

Sunset Clouds Wallpaper Mural | Murals Wallpaper

Daylight saving starts on the last Sunday of the last week of September, this years it is on the Sunday 27th of September. This starts at 2am on Sunday and ends at 3am on the first Sunday of April, the 4th of April 2021. Daylight savings in New Zealand is one hour ahead of standard New Zealand time. This was first introduced in 1927 by parliamentarian Thomas Sidey he said to move the clocks 1 hour forward in New Zealand's summer period to allow for an extra hour of daylight in the evenings. This helped people save power and made it easier for the people who worked in the evenings.

The reason I think that daylight savings are a good thing is so we have more time in the evening to enjoy the sunset and light. As I have already mentioned that with daylight savings less power is used which will help with saving money as well. A useful thing to help get used to the hour forward is to adjust all clocks to watches and to the oven digital time. If you are lying in bed and are not sleepy do some exercises to help your body be tired for the day and sleep well. Another thing that is good about daylight savings is that there is a low rate of crimes. So this means that there are fewer robberies.

There are daylight savings in different counties including Australia. Some parts of Australia have daylight savings but some don't. The states that have daylight savings are New South WalesVictoriaSouth AustraliaTasmaniathe Australian Capital Territory and Norfolk Island. The state that doesn't have Daylight savings are Queensland, the Northern TerritoryWestern AustraliaChristmas Island or the Cocos (Keeling) Islands.

Thank you for reading some awesome facts about daylight savings, hope you learnt something. Don't be scared to put a comment on my blog as I love the feedback that you give. Thank you BYE!

Te Wiki o te Reo Māori

Kia Ora, guys if you already don't know this week is Te Wiki o te Reo Māori language week. For this week our teacher told us to make a DLO on how to say some words in Māori and some fun facts about the culture. Hope you enjoy my work and hope you learn something new about our culture. BYE!

Hurumanu 2 - Drama & Reading - P3 - P5

Week 1
Hi, guys today I will be sharing what we have been going for drama. Not to be rude but sometimes drama gets boring because people start misbehaving but today I really enjoyed it.

For drama, we played different games called "Tequila, Seven Up, Magic Mover, Name Gestures and Word Association." All of these game include movement, gestures and being still. We also had worked on the stages flour pattern, listening and repetition.

My favourite game we played was copy circle because we had to copy someone in the circle and someone else would have to guess who is the leader. This was really enjoyable.

Week 2
For week 2 we did games and The Audition. But next week we are working on Monologues. A monologue is a play or film done by one person also there speech is long. I will be using one script and will be acting it out.

Week 3
For this week we have to share our monologue and we did some excises and activities. I'm doing a "Where's My Happily Ever After?" If the step-mother was an animal it would a tiger because of its tiger-like attitude evil, mysteriously, lightly and catwalks

Snow White?

I’ll tell you about Snow White!

You think she looks like that naturally?  (she spends hours on her makeup.)

And who do you think cleans all that up? It wasn’t snow white,

I’ll tell you that.

I never made her do any chores.

She’s just like my friend's stepdaughter, in front of guests she refuses to let anyone else lift a finger and then turns it around and makes us look bad.

I’m telling you, that Cinderella girl should get together with snow-white.

Let them fight it out as to who gets to do the work. It’s like some kind of . . . Complex or something.

Write a paragraph to describe the role:

I am being the evil queen from Snow White. I am 42 years old and am a stepmother of Snow White.
This play is set in my palace is actually a small cottage in an abandon forset.
Being the stepmother of Snow White is hard, she is the unfairest fo the all. Did you know she got everything from a prince to a palace? Ohh yes I did try to kill her but that was the old me of course, nobody understands. Okay, I did try to kill her because she was too pretty but that was it. I am sick of being misunderstood, I hate it! I want to be treated right.

Hurumanu 5 Reflection

Hi, guys today I will be sharing what we have been doing for hurumanu as known as PE. I will be telling you guys my reflection on how this term went with PE. We have PE two times a week, are we have mixed our PE subject and maths together. This time for PE we had a smaller group and personal I think it was much easier and faster to do things physically and blogging stuff.

I really liked when we have smaller groups to make it easier and efficient. Comparing our last PE session to this session I really enjoyed it because we work more in the gym than in classes. The thing that I enjoyed the most was the team beep test and the game long ball. They were both fun because we worked in teams.

I thought that there was more math involved in this PE session than last time, which I really enjoyed. We learnt about volume, perimeter, area and more equations on that. We also worked on measurement and measure different courts.

Overall I really enjoyed PE it was better than the last time we did it. If I had the chance to do this again I would, this was a very enjoyable session this term. Hope you liked my reflection on PE. BYE.

Solar Oven

Hi, guys today I will be sharing what we have been doing for science. For Life On Mars, we have been making solar ovens, to see if we can toast smores.

We are doing this so we can show how solar energy works and how it can be useful. We used foil to reflect the light of the sun on to the smores and used cardboard to hold the foil in the right place. This didn't take long to make but the chocolate from the smores took some time to melt. But for the marshmallow, we used a magnifying glass to try to melt it but it didn't work it only made the marshmallow warm.

Finally, I think that the smores were good even if it was just warm. Thank you for reading hope you like this bye.

Hurumanu 5 - Term 3 - P.E & Maths

Hurumanu 5 - Term 3 - P.E & Maths
Hi, guys for P.E today what we have been doing for Hurumanu 5 which is P.E and Maths. For the P.E side, we had to track our fitness activities, our results and our heart rate after doing the activity. We are also working with measurement, volume, area, perimeter and weights.

Resting Pulse Rate - Is when you have done no fitness and your heart is pumping normally.
Active Pulse Rate - When your body has done something active and the heart is pumping blood faster than usual.

Every time we measure our pulse we measure the beat of the heart each minute.

Beep Test Rules:
  1. In pairs, number 1 line up on the baseline, number 2 is watching/encouraging and remembering the results that you finish in.
  2. Run the beep test; you must with the "beep" sound. try your hardest.
  3. Once you have finished, go to your partner and time you're heart rate for 30 seconds after. Record these results.
  4. Record the level you achieved on your table beside 'beep test.'
  5. Find out how far in total you ran (each length is 20m)
  6. To do this you will need to number of runs x the length of each shuttle run.
Perimeter - Area:
Now we will be learning about the perimeter and the area of types of courts. With measurement, volume, area and perimeter we had to sure different sizes of courts.

Group

Court

Perimeter (m2)

Area (m3)

13 x 6 = 78

4

Netball (Outside)

W - 15.25

L - 30.5

30 x 15 = 450

Perimeter:
Basketball - 15 + 28 = 43 + 43 = 86
Badminton - 13 + 6 = 19 + 19 = 38
Netball - 30 + 15 = 45 + 45 = 90
Tennis - 11 + 23 = 34 + 34 = 68

Area:
Basketball - 15 x 28 = 420
Badminton - 13 x 6 = 78
Netball - 30 x 15 = 450
Tennis - 11 x 23 =  253

Volume:
This can be the loudness of something, measurement of liquid and more. Measurement of liquid is when we measure an amount of space. First, you need to get the perimeter, with volume is what is in the space. Volume is for 3D shapes and the perimeter and area are for 2D. With measurement, volume, area and perimeter we had to sure different sizes of courts.

PE Weight Table
Bodyweight; 20 - 40kg. My weight number is ...
For this activity, we had to do different exercises and see how long we could hold them for or see how much we could do in one minute. As you can see all my weights are the small number because I think that this would have equal answers.

My next steps in P.E will be to work with groups and start to learn more about different sports. I will do this by trying new skills and research more about the topic. I would love to learn more about Hockey and Tennis because there both sports that interest me. If you had the chance what sport would you learn or research? Hope you like my very long blog post. Thank you bye.

World War 1 - DLO

Hi, guys today I will be sharing what we have been doing for hurumanu 1. For social studies, we have been working on the 1914 to 1918 World War 1. We had to first answer some questions about World War 1 and the information is found on articles and by searching it up. Here is my DLO about World War 1. Hope you enjoy, bye.

One interesting fact was that when men went to war the woman had to do most of the jobs that wouldn't be offered this when the men were working. I have said this fact multiple times on my slide show.

Creative Writing

Hi, guys today I will be sharing the creative writing I have been doing for homeroom. For creative writing, we had to choose out of 4 photo's one to write about and use in our writing. This writing I have been working on for one week now. I don't know if I want to continue with this writing but I will keep updating my writing if I have any new changes. Hope you like my writing, enjoy. BYE!

GRAVITY

Hello, guys today I will be sharing facts and some questions about gravity. For science, we have been working on different topics every week, this week is gravity involved questions and activities. Gravity is the force keeping us on the ground instead of us floating like we would be in space.

QUESTIONS:

Is gravity the same on all planets? No because of it alters in size and mass of the planet, for example, Jupiter has the most gravity in the solar system and Mercury is the smallest planet and the closest to the Sun it has less gravity in the solar system.

How is gravity related to mass? More mass means more gravity Mercury as I said before has less amount of mass so that means it has less gravity in the solar system.

Which planet would you weigh the most on and the less? Again if you were on Jupiter you would weigh more and if you were on Mercury you would weigh less. It all depends on the mass.

How would your life be different if you lived on a planet with higher gravity or lower gravity? It would be hard to live on planets like Jupiter because you would be pushed down by the less amount of gravity. But if you lived on a planet like Mercury it would still be harder because you would probably be floating around.

Bonus Question: Why do things float on water, shouldn't gravity pull it down? For Example, let's use a boat at the bottom of the boat it is filled with air and let's say that we could make a boat out of the water the boat would float because the water is denser.

Bonus Question: What is the difference between mass and weight? Mass: If you have more protons, neutrons and electrons in an object this would be measured by mass. Weight: If you consider an object interacting with Earth, this force is called the weight.

Parihaka INVASION

Hi, guys today for social studies we had to make a DLO and answer some questions about the invasion of 1600 thousand troops and evicting them out of the homes of the peaceful Parihaka people. Parikhaka is located in the North Island near Taranaki. So here is my DLO and some answer to my questions, hope you like it.

Here are some of the questions I needed to answer about the event.
How long were Te Whiti and Tohu imprisoned? Where? What did they intend to do when they returned to Parihaka?
After Te Whiti and Tohu were imprisoned for there, act of passive resistance for six months and then had a been moved to the south island. Later were released in 1883. Again in 1886 after going back to Parihaka and continuing with the peaceful protest, Te Whiti was arrested for six months. But sadly in 1907 both Tohu died and months later Te Whiti died.

What was the impact on Māori when of the New Zealand Company and other representatives of "The Crown" confiscated or purchased land very cheaply from Māori? What happened to Māori who lost their land? Where and how did they live?
The Maori soon would’ve realised that they made a mistake. And that in the end, they were just helping the marketer. The Maori were forced to move immediately. The iwi and groups of people travelled together to Parihaka.

How do you think the New Zealand wars impacted on iwi and groups of people who were no longer able to live on their Whenua?
It impacted them because they were evicted; they must have been confused, and the first ones to be kicked out wouldn’t have known where Parihaka is. They had to leave everything they owned behind.

What other ways are there to solve significant issues between people/countries that do not use violence as a way of controlling others or solving problems?
Referendums are a vote from a group, country and more. This helps by getting an average of what people want and what is best.
Non Cooperation is when refuse or fail to cooperate, which is a form of protest. Sometimes non-cooperation means obeying the law or rules. This has been established in India by Gandhi.

Who are some of the other world leaders who have used passive resistance? What was their cause, and how is/was it peaceful?
Gandhi was and still is known for his passive resistance/nonviolent protesting for the freedom of India and is known now for his excellent leadership and very spiritual.
Martin Luther King Juinor has been known for his civil rights leadership in the 1960s. He imagined a world where their colour of skin would never judge his children.
Rose Park, a woman, fighting for her equal rights in colour by not giving up her seat to a white person to sit. That started her protest and kept fight until in the 1960s when civil rights equalised.
Malala wrote in her diary she wanted girls to stay in education and how she wanted all girls to get to school. She is well-known for fighting for learning, but the Taliban didn’t like this. The soldiers shot her, but she survived the attack.

SCIENCE

Hi, guys today I will be sharing what I have been doing for science. For science, we have been working on coding and how to use a sphero by using blocks. There are three ways to make a sphero move one way is block coding which we used another way was to draw how you want to move your sphero to move and third is writing down by text and see the result. Sadly our pictures are not downloading I will update it when it is downloaded. BYE!

Here is how you control your sphero by just moving that big blue dot around.
