Day 1 of Summer Learning Journey

Day 1 of Summer Learning Journey
# YEAHπŸ˜πŸ˜„πŸ˜ŠπŸ˜‚

Hi guys, I am going to be blogging over the school holidays. I will at least do 1 blog post a day. I am using the Summer learning journey website. Our topic for four weeks will be the "world around us" so the environment. Week one is all about "A place to stand."

Today I am going to be talking about New Zealand where I live. Also I am going to be talking about the legend Māui. Māui the demigod had made a fish hook that was made by his grandmothers jawbone. On that same day he went to the sea and threw the magical fish hook into the water and catched a big fish. That was the North Island. What do you think about this legend? Anyway our task was to find 3 facts about New Zealand. I have linked my photos so if you want to use that photo just press on the photo.

The second activity is to describe my city. Which is Christchurch. Here is my city.

Christchurch it a beautiful place to be because it is nice and quit. The Christchurch city is a magnificent place to be. It has so much history of so many times like the war to the art galley and the culture we have in New Zealand. Just walking around the city gives you New Zealand vibes. Don't get me started on the people, they always will be smiling and happy just how Christchurch is.

The third activity # Bonus Activity is when we have to make a digital footprint. You must be thinking what is a digital footprint? Well when ever you go online and share something to your friend or search something up if leave a digital footprint. You can't remove the digital footprint it stays there. That why you have to be safe when you are online. So here are some ways to be safe online.

Here are the links from where I got the photo from:

  1. Kia ora Risha,

My name is Hazel and I am part of the Summer Learning Journey team this year. I am so glad you've decided to join us as we learn all about the world around us.

I am so impressed by your first post; it's clear that you have put in lots of effort.

I enjoyed your facts about New Zealand. I thought that the one about the national anthems was especially interesting. What are the other two countries that have two anthems? Which of our two national anthems do you think is better?

I loved your description of Christchurch. My hometown is Auckland, but I have visited Christchurch many times, and I agree that the people there are very friendly. What is your favourite thing to do in Christchurch?

You have made a very informative poster about the importance of creating a positive digital footprint. I see that you have also attributed your images - ka pai! I also liked that you explained what that means for people that might not understand.

Congratulations on an awesome first post, and I look forward to reading more of your Summer Learning Journey posts over the next few weeks!

    Cheers,

    Hazel :)

    1. Hi Hazel, it's really nice to meet you. My favourite thing about Christchurch is the city it's so unique and modern and still has so much history in it. What's your favourite thing about Auckland. Sadly I can only find one country that had two national anthem which was Denmark. Out of our two national anthem I liked “God Defend New Zealand.” What's your favourite?

    2. Hi Risha,

I think that my favourite thing about Auckland is the diversity. There are people living in Auckland who have come from all over the world, and I love meeting new people, and hearing their stories.

I also prefer 'God Defend New Zealand'. I think that is because it is the anthem that I grew up with. My grandmother-in-law is 100 years old, and I think she prefers 'God Save the Queen' for that same reason!

Keep up the great work :)

    3. Hi again, I have been to Auckland once. I went to rainbows end. Have you ever been there? Wow that is awesome that you grandmother-in-law is 100 years old. One question, did she get a letter from the queen?

  2. Good morning Risha,

I have been to Rainbow's End, but not for a long time. My favourite ride is the log flume. What is yours?

We had a big birthday party for Gwen (my grandmother-in-law) back in October, and she received letters from the Queen, Jacinda Ardern and the Governor General of New Zealand. It was very exciting.

    2. Hi Risha,

I remember when I first went on the log flume, and I loved it so much that I stayed on three times in a row! I have also been on the gold rush; that's another of my favourites.

    4. Hi Risha,

I am very well thank you, how are you? I am looking forward to Christmas next week, when I will get to see all of my family. What are you doing for the rest of the summer holidays (other than blogging of course)?

I think that I would like to go back, but I wouldn't go on the roller coaster; it made me feel very ill last time.

      Hazel :)

    6. Wow, that sounds like a great holiday!

I will be spending time in Auckland with my friends and whānau, and then travelling to Northland for a wedding over new year. Last year I was in Whangarei with my family for Christmas, and I went to the Coromandel for a few days as well.
