Gold Rush - 1861

Hi, guys today I will be sharing my work for hurumanu 1. We are working on the gold rush that happened in 1861. Otago became a place to become rich, so thousands of immigrants from around the world came for the gold rush. When the immigrants came to New Zealand the living space was hard and the winter periods would be very cold. So men lived in tents and shacks, some lived in caves and were that dispirited. 

Here are some facts about the people who worked in the mining industry. 

    

CODES

In science today we did signals to each other by doing codes like Binary, Morse code and Flag signals. We used binary which is using 0 and 1s.

We started off making flags with paper and popsicle sticks and wrote on then 0s and 1s for the binary codes.  We had to choose an animal to do in binary coding. We chose "Otter" as our code.

It was very hard to do otter so we did one letter to make it easier for the person we were sending the message to. The letter we chose was E.  Here are some of the codes you could learn.

For hurumanu 1 we had to read a piece of text and write about the interesting facts of history. The facts are about a photo and what it is from. Here is my presentation hope you enjoy. Term 3 Learning Goals

Kia Ora, guys today I will be sharing my term 1 reflection on my goals and my term 3 goals that I have set. In the first term of school, we had to set goals for the term and the year but because of the lockdown, we didn't have time to reflect on them and make new goals for term 2. We just carried on with our term 1 goal for term 2. Now that it is the third term we made some new goals and reflected on the goals from term 1 and 2 goals. I wanted to show you guys my goals cause it is important to share your goals and learn more.

Technology - Laser Works

Hi, guys today I will be showing what we have been doing for technology also known as the digital tech. So for this term, we were doing digital tech were worked with a laser cutter, tinkacard and laser works x8. We made key chains and a phone stand. Here is my final product.

Hi, guys today I will be sharing my last activity for hurumanu 1 "Who are we." This hurumanu talks about the history of New Zealand. We are working on Mahinga Kai so about food and providing with nature. We had to do a DLO about it so here is my DLO.
